NOT AT HOME – a durational art campaign by Emma Fraser (Nine Crows) & Grace Dyas (THEATREclub) to make visible the experiences of women who travel abroad to access safe abortion services, to highlight the consequences of Ireland’s abortion laws, and to bring women who have travelled together in solidarity.
Since April 2016, we have been collecting anonymous testimonies from women online notathomeireland.com. We now have a crowd-sourced text of these women’s experiences of travelling abroad. In June 2017, we visited BPAS Merseyside in Liverpool.
From these texts and our experience of recreating this journey, we will create a durational art work featuring video, sound installation and live performance. We want to create a waiting room. This is the waiting room where Irish citizens wait for this issue to be resolved. The audience will have autonomy in how they navigate the space. It’s quiet. It’s calm. It’s reflective.
NOT AT HOME will be presented in the National College of Art and Design as part of Dublin Fringe Festival 2017 and will be open to the public:
September 14-15 Thursday & Friday, 5pm – 9pm
September 16-17 Saturday & Sunday, 12pm – 6pm
